Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam to the Ukraine


Ambassador Nguyen Anh Tuan was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Ukraine by the Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang on May 17, 2017. Prior to his appointment, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Studies, the ideological and theoretical voice of both the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam (DAV) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam. Before that, he was Dean of Faculty of International Economics, Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam from 2004-2007.

His first overseas assignment was to the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia from 2000 to the end 2003, where he served as Third then Second Secretary. His second overseas post was the Councellor and the Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Vietnam in Australia from 2007-2012.

Ambassador Tuan received his bachelor degree in economics at the Moscow State University of Transport in 1986, and his Master and subsequently Doctor's degrees in International Economics at the University of Malaya (Malaysia) in 1995 and 2003 respectively. He was conferred the title of Associate Professor in 2007 by the National Council of Professor's title. He has written about a hundred scholarly articles and more than ten books published in Vietnam and abroad on international economic relations and international relations, available in both Vietnamese and English. He has received many awards of merit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Ministries.

Ambassador Tuan's hometown is in Thai Binh Province, though he was born and grew up in Ha Noi, Vietnam. He is married to Mdm. Pham Bich Loi and has one son and a daughter.
