 The 77th anniversary of the founding of the Viet Nam People's Army

 
On December 20, 2021, the Defense Attaché Office of Viet Nam in Ukraine, along with the Embassy of Viet Nam and the Association of Vietnamese veterans in Ukraine, held the ceremony to celebrate 77th anniversary of the founding of the Viet Nam People's Army (22/12/1944 – 22/12/2021) and the 32nd anniversary of the People's National Defense Festival (22/12/1989 – 22/12/2021).

Attending the anniversary, there were honor guests of Chairman of the Association of veterans throughout Ukraine,  Major General Volodimyr Vasyliovych Popovych, Ukrainian veterans who used to fight in Viet Nam,  representatives of Vietnamese veterans from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa and Mariupol and officials of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Ukraine.

At the event, Defense Attaché Colonel Nguyen Quang Chien reviewed the journey of 77 years of fighting and growing up of the Vietnam People's Army. He highlighted the great achievements in the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the US empire and also in defense diplomacy of participating in UN peacekeeping missions in South Sudan and the Central African Republic. He sincerely thanked the help of Ukrainian veterans who used to help Viet Nam during the war, and emphasized that generations of Vietnamese would never forget these great contributions.

On behalf of Ukrainian veterans, Major General Popovych warmly congratulated the Ministry of Defense of Viet Nam and all soldiers of the Viet Nam People's Army. He wished the Army more and more elite and modern to well accomplish the task of defending the Fatherland. Major General Popovych also stressed the long-standing friendship between the peoples, armies, and veterans of the two countries of Viet Nam and Ukraine and good relations between the Association of veterans throughout Ukraine and the Embassy of Viet Nam in Ukraine.

Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese veterans in Ukraine Mr. Nguyen Van Loan congratulated the founding of the Viet Nam People's Army. He said that veterans in Ukraine or elsewhere would always maintain noble characteristics of Uncle Ho's Army. Vietnamese veterans in Ukraine have actively participated in the activities of the Embassy of Viet Nam in Ukraine and the Vietnamese community in the country to create close relations and friendship with the Association of veterans throughout Ukraine and further contribute to the Vietnamese community.

Due to the current Covid-19 epidemic, the celebration was held with a limited but solemn composition. After the ceremony, the delegates watched videos reviewing the 77 years of fighting and growing up of the Viet Nam People's Army and sang  songs praising the heroic traditions of the Army./.
